Dr. Arash Mohammadi Towfiq graduated in general surgery in 2005 from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, Shohadaye Tajrish Hospital.
That same year, he ranked among the top candidates nationwide in the board examination in surgery and immediately joined the Department of Surgery at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences as a full-time faculty member and assistant professor.
Dr. Towfiq received a scholarship to study abroad at that time and traveled to France on an educational mission from the university to continue his studies in vascular surgery at Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris, affiliated with Paris 6 University, also known as Pierre and Marie Curie University. From 2005 to 2007, he completed an advanced vascular surgery course, or fellowship, in the hospital’s Department of Vascular Surgery, which was directed by Professor Kieffer, one of the world’s leading vascular surgeons.
Upon his return, Dr. Arash Towfiq began working at Imam Hossein Hospital in Tehran, affiliated with Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, where he taught and trained specialty residents. In 2011, he was promoted to associate professor based on his extensive number of scientific research articles. From that time, in addition to his university duties, he also began working at Kasra Hospital in Tehran.
In 2008, Dr. Towfiq became one of the first specialists in the country to receive training in the use of lasers for treating varicose veins, and subsequently began providing this modern treatment. Since then, he has treated more than 3,000 patients using this method. Dr. Towfiq currently serves as editor-in-chief of the English-language international journal Journal of Lasers in Medical Sciences, published by Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences.
