When should you take seeking care more seriously?
Some symptoms should not be delayed with temporary measures alone.
- Severe or nighttime pain — Pain that disrupts sleep, eating, or daily activities requires prompt dental assessment.
- Facial or gum swelling — Swelling, fever, discharge, or worsening pain may indicate a need for urgent care; if breathing or swallowing is difficult, call 115.
- Dental injury or fracture — After an injury, a fracture, or a tooth falling out, seek assessment as soon as possible.
