When should you take seeking care more seriously?
Some symptoms need earlier assessment and should not be managed with self-treatment alone.
- Heavy or unusual bleeding — If bleeding is very heavy or occurs with dizziness, weakness, significant pain, or a possible pregnancy, seek medical assessment immediately. In an emergency, call 115.
- Severe pelvic or menstrual pain — Pain that disrupts daily activities, suddenly becomes severe, or occurs with fever, fainting, or bleeding needs assessment.
- Symptoms of infection with pain or fever — Foul-smelling discharge with itching or burning, especially with fever or pelvic pain, should be assessed by a doctor.
