When should you take seeking care more seriously?
Some changes are best assessed without delay; a definite diagnosis is only possible through examination.
- Change in a mole or skin lesion — A new mole or a lesion that has changed in color, shape, size, or appearance requires an in-person examination.
- Sudden or patchy hair loss — If hair loss is severe, sudden, or occurs in a specific area, do not replace a visit with self-treatment when looking into the cause.
- Severe or general symptoms — If a skin lesion is accompanied by shortness of breath, swelling of the face or lips, high fever, or severe illness, call 115 immediately.
