When should you take seeking care more seriously?
Some signs require prompt contact with a dentist; in life-threatening situations, call 115.
- Persistent or nighttime pain — Pain that disrupts a child’s sleep, eating, or activity is best assessed sooner.
- Facial or gum swelling — Swelling, fever, or feeling unwell with a dental problem may indicate a need for urgent assessment; call 115 if there is difficulty breathing or swallowing.
- Dental trauma and bleeding — A loose, broken, or knocked-out tooth after a fall or injury requires prompt dental follow-up.
